An employee of White Birch Papers has been named a finalist in the Grands Prix santé et sécurité du travail, an awards program organized by Quebec’s occupational health and safety agency. Jocelyn Belley, of White Birch’s Stadacona mill in Quebec City, is a finalist in the “Leader” category.
A statement from the award organizers says Belley is passionate about his work. He acts as a mentor for accident prevention, not only at White Birch Papers, but in the larger pulp and paper industry as well. He is president of the regional council of Quebec’s association for health and safety in the pulp and paper sector. The award organizers praise Belley’s devotion, patience, perseverance and communication skills. He has been an agent of change and actively participates in creating a safety culture within the industry.
The awards gala will take place on May 3.
