December 14, 2018 – Kruger Products, the consumer division of tissue manufacturer Kruger Inc., has been named one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers for 2019 by Mediacorp Canada in its annual roundup.

“Attracting talent in one of the country’s most competitive labour markets has encouraged employers to focus on what’s important to their workforce,” says Kristina Leung, senior editor at Mediacorp, a publisher of employment magazines. “This year’s winners offer a mixture of traditional benefits, such as maternity and parental leave top-up, with flexible options that cater to individuals at various stages of life, such as flexible time off policies and arrangements.”

Mediacorp says that Kruger was chosen for its annual support of local and national charities and for giving its employees paid time off to volunteer. Kruger Products also offers academic scholarships for children of employees (to $2,000 per child), and hosts internal focus groups to better understand the wants and needs of millennial employees. The company also provides maternity and parental leave top-up payments for employees who are new mothers, as well as parental top-up for fathers and adoptive parents. Additionally, employees have the option to extend their leave to an unpaid leave of absence.

Now in its 13th year, the Greater Toronto’s Top Employers competition recognizes employers with exceptional human resources programs and forward-thinking workplace policies. Editors at Mediacorp grade employers on eight criteria: (1) physical workplace; (2) work atmosphere and social; (3) health, financial and family benefits; (4) vacation and time-off; (5) employee communications; (6) performance management; (7) training and skills development; and (8) community involvement.

Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs. The annual competition is open to any employer with its head office in the Greater Toronto Area; employers of any size may apply, whether private or public sector.
