The Canadian Federal government has announced new climate-change initiatives that will regulate the carbon emissions of 17 key industrial sectors, including pulp and paper manufacturers. The new rules and standards will include a carbon trading system to allow companies to buy carbon offsets to meet the requirements. By the year 2020, Canada plans to cut its greenhouse gas emissions to 20% below 2006 levels.
