On Tuesday, May 27, 2003 members of Local 298 of the Communication, Energy and Papermakers Union of Canada, one of two unions representing workers at the Company’s Eurocan Pulp & Paper mill, rejected the Company’s final offer in the current collective agreement negotiation. The vote was conducted under the supervision of the Labour Relations Board. As a result of the vote, members of the Local have initiated a strike which has shut down production at the mill located in Kitimat, BC.
