FPAC disappointed with final U.S. softwood lumber duties

November 7, 2017  By Forest Products Association of Canada

Nov. 7, 2017 – The Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) is disappointed with the U.S. Commerce Department’s announcement of final duties on Canadian softwood lumber.

These are unwarranted duties that the U.S. is levying against the forest products sector and it will result in Americans paying more to build and renovate their homes. FPAC says it will continue to work alongside the federal government, provincial governments and provincial forest products association partners to ensure that Canada’s forest products sector remains competitive and innovative in the face of these protectionist measures.

“We appreciate that the federal government has pledged its continued support to defend our sector and our workers against these tariffs which are completely without merit,” said Derek Nighbor, FPAC CEO.
