Fraser Papers is buying Katahdin Paper Company. For a total of $50 million, Fraser will acquire a directory papers business located in Maine, as well as a 180,000 tons per year super-calendered paper business, also stationed in Maine.

Fraser said the purchase was made with the intent to expand its specialty papers business, while adding two groundwood products to its repertoire.
