March 27, 2020  By P&PC Staff

Kemira celebrated its 100th anniversary this week with a EUR 100,000 donation to the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

The donation will be used to help fund essential supplies such as masks, gloves and other protective gear for front-line health care workers.

The chemical manufacturer was founded in 1920 to provide fertilizers to farmers in Finland. Now, it operates multiple business segments including pulp and paper and water treatment.

“We are now, perhaps more than ever in a strong position to continue solving society’s challenges through chemistry – in close collaboration with our customers and other business partners,” Jari Rosendal, Kemira president and CEO, and Jari Paasikivi, chairman of the board, say in a statement.

Rosendal and Paasikivi say they are taking measures to ensure the safety of their workforce as the company works to keep its manufacturing sites operational.
