Kruger shutting down Corner Brook mill for a week; 300 employees to be affected

Kruger has announced that its Corner Brook Pulp and Paper mill is shutting down for a week starting November 20. The company shared in a press statement that the shutdown is taking place due to the difficult business environment in the newsprint sector.

The mill’s main boiler will undergo an annual inspection and necessary repairs during the week-long shutdown. Approximately 300 employees of the mill will be affected by this move.

The company also shared that it may carry out additional production shutdowns in the coming weeks. The duration of these interruptions, notes Kruger, will depend on the evolution of the newsprint market.
