Striking workers at Tembec’s Temiscaming site will have an opportunity Dec. 10 to vote on a collective agreement that is unanimously endorsed by the union negotiation committee. Tembec and Unifor Local 233 have signed a memorandum of agreement and a return-to-work protocol regarding the ongoing strike at the company’s pulp and board mills at Temiscaming, Que.

On Dec. 10, the 650 unionized employees will vote on a four-year collective agreement that the union negotiation committee intends to recommend.

The company will not comment on the agreement until the union membership has had the opportunity to vote.

The strike began Nov. 26, and interrupted production the Temiscaming industrial complex, which comprises four main facilities manufacturing specialty pulp, high-yield pulp, multi-ply coated bleached board, phenolic resins and lignosulfonates.
