The 240 workers at Marathon Pulp Inc. in Marathon, Ont. learned this week their mill is shutting its doors for good.

The mill, which is owned by Tembec and Kruger, is over $50 million in debt, and filed for bankruptcy protection in February. According to a number of reports, Marathon Pulp Inc.’s owners have not applied for a 30-day protection period from its creditors.

The Canadian Press reported bankruptcy trustee PricewaterhouseCoopers currently controls the mill and will try to find a buyer.
