On the heels of the decision to permanently close Abitibi-Consolidated’s Port Alfred mill, comes news of more possible closures for the company. The shut down of two paper mills in Kenora and Thunder Bay is up for discussion. High wood and energy costs are being cited as problematic for the mills. A newsprint mill in Lufkin, Texas is also being looked at, and may potentially close at some point in 2005.
