Vancouver-based biomass gasification firm Nexterra Energy Corp. has won the GLOBE Award for Technology Innovation and Application at the GLOBE Awards for Environmental Excellence, held in Vancouver.

Vancouver-based biomass gasification firm Nexterra Energy Corp. has won the GLOBE Award for Technology Innovation and Application at the GLOBE Awards for Environmental Excellence, held in Vancouver.

Nexterra’s focus is to reduce customers’ costs and become more energy self-sufficient, while cutting greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants. Prime markets are thermal and cogeneration applications in the forest products, pulp and paper, institutional, residential district heating industries, and power generation via self-generated, low-cost heat and/or power using wood waste. The company is developing market applications with firms such as Domtar, Tolko Industries, Dockside Green, Johnston Controls and Pristine Power.

Jonathan Rhone, President and CEO of Nexterra said the GLOBE award “demonstrates that companies no longer have to choose between what’s good for the environment and what’s good for the bottom line.”

GLOBE is a biennial business/environment trade fair.
