The allure of Whistler and a strong technical program have drawn more than 350 people to the PacWest industry conference. The annual event began June 10 with short courses on various topics, a welcome reception and trade show. The four-day event wraps up on June 13 with a golf tournament.

Organized by the pulp and paper supplier group IBMP and the industry association PAPTAC, the conference and show will conclude on June 13 with a golf tournament.

This year’s attendance of 350 surpasses last year’s total of 280. About 50 of the attendees are spouses, but more importantly for organizers, about 80 attendees are employees of pulp and paper mills.

Conference chairman Stew Gibson of Catalyst Paper attributes the higher attendance to PacWest’s growing reputation among the pulp and paper community.

The PacWest trade show sold out its 20 available spots.
