Report: Resolute exploring solutions for curtailed newsprint mills

March 18, 2021  By P&PC Staff

Resolute Forest Products is exploring options for its newsprint mills in Amos and Baie-Comeau, Que., according to a report by EUWID.

The two mills have been shut down since the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Baie-Comeau closed on Mar. 28, 2020, and Amos closed a few weeks later, on Apr. 20.

A company spokesperson declined to comment on speculation about resuming production, rebuilds for other grades or permanent closures, but did say a committee is working on solutions for Baie-Comeau.
