Apr. 10, 2018 - Kemira has announced a multi-million-euro investment to expand production at its Joutseno chlor-alkali site in Finland, which it says will help address the growing need for sodium hydroxide in the country.

Joutseno chlor-alkali site produces sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid, and sodium hypochlorite for pulp and paper and process industries as well as municipal water treatment.

“We invest in the chlor-alkali site production capacity to ensure our ability to effectively serve our customers. The investment continues the previously announced investments in Joutseno site,” said Tommi Kankkunen, VP, Manufacturing, Pulp & Paper segment.

The investment is expected to be operational during the fourth quarter of 2018.
