Starting October 20, Catalyst Paper will close its Snowflake mill in Arizona, for eight days.
The shutdown will remove 8,000 tonnes of recycled newsprint from the market.

According to a report by Canadian Press, the company noted the closure will slash requirements for old newsprint fibre by roughly 10,000 tonnes.

“We are watching demand and inventory levels very closely,” Richard Garneau, president and CEO of Catalyst said. “Existing orders and shipments will be managed accordingly to address delivery commitments and maintain efficient operations during the mill downtime,” CP reported him as saying.

Catalyst Paper paid US$161 million earlier this year to purchase the Snowflake mill from AbitibiBowater.
