The 3rd Certification Watch Conference, taking place in Vancouver on March 25-27, is set to attract well over 300 delegates. “We are pleased that the attendance level for this year’s event is expected to be more than double that of 2002,” says conference coordinator Candace Reimer.

The 2003 conference, entitled “The Policy and Practice of Forest Certification”, boasts leading voices in forest certification and responsible procurement in North America. Scheduled to address the conference are senior executives from corporations such as Tembec, Interfor, International Paper, Weyerhaeuser, Simpson Investment Company, Time Inc Paperco, Staples Inc and Lowe’s. The conference attendees will also hear experiences from practitioners and representatives of key stakeholders involved in forest certification and responsible procurement.

“With a high powered program and high attendance level, the conference is emerging as one of the most prominent events in sustainable forestry in North America in 2003,” says conference chair Jean-Pierre Kiekens. While having a North American focus, the conference has world-wide appeal, and delegates from countries such as Austria, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Germany, Sweden and the United Kingdom have already registered for the event.
