AV Terrace Bay has temporary idled its pulp operations at its Ontario mill due to prevailing market conditions.

The company, a part of the Aditya Birla Group, released a press statement on Jan. 2 explaining that the shutdown is effective immediately and will affect approximately 400 employees.

The facility, which is located on the north shore of Lake Superior, produces 320,000 air dry metric tons of northern bleached softwood kraft pulp.

The press statement further shared that the company will be putting the mill into a state of warm idle to facilitate a possible future restart.
