Vancouver-based Catalyst Paper Corp. will buy AbitibiBowater (AB) newsprint mill in Snowflake, Arizona, for Cdn$161 million. The facility’s production capacity is about 375,000 tonnes per annum. AB had previously agreed to sell the facility to win the approval of U. S. Department of Justice to allow the merger of Bowater and Montreal-based Abitibi last year. The sale should close in second quarter, 2008.
