May 6, 2018 - The agenda is set for PacWest 2018, an annual gathering of the Canadian pulp and paper industry for three days of technical and business-oriented sessions. This year’s conference and trade show will run May 30 to June 2 at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, in Jasper, Alta.

Picking up on the event theme, Adapting for the Future, the technical program will offer short courses on May 30 on Valve & Instrumentation Fundamentals; Effective Organizations - Improving Machinery Installation, Performance & Reliability; and Process Safety Management - Process Hazard Analysis.

The conference forum kicks off on May 31 with an opening panel discussion featuring: Dr. Harshad Pande, Domtar; Eric Oliver, FP Innovations; Gordon Giles, Alberta Innovates; Mark Wunderlich, Catalyst Paper; Gordon Floe, NLK Consulting; and Martin Pudlas, Canfor Pulp.

As previous years, PacWest will also host roundtable discussions for mill managers, maintenance managers, and pulp machine superintendents, enabling participants to come together and discuss common, industry-specific issues.

Eric Termuende, co-founder of NoW Innovations, will take the stage on Friday as the luncheon keynote speaker, where he will speak about “The Evolution of Communication, Technology, and the Future of Work”.

There are several social events planned for the week, including the 5K Fun Run/Walk on Friday morning. A cocktail reception, followed by the awards dinner and dance, conclude the program that evening. On Saturday, attendees can unwind with a golf tournament and BBQ. A full spousal program is also offered.
