The storm in Quebec’s forest sector is showing no signs of letting up with Domtar adding its name to the ever-growing list of companies closing sawmills in the province.

The company is shuttering three mills in Quebec, and another in Ontario, effectively removing a total of 950 jobs in the two eastern provinces.

“The closures are primarily due to the pressure of higher timber costs and lower demand for lumber and wood chips,” the company confirmed.
