Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, announced 85 new appointments to the Order of Canada, including FSC Canada’s chair of the board of directors, Clifford Wallis from the Alberta Wilderness Association (AWA).
FSC Canada explains in a press statement that the Order of Canada is one of the country’s highest honours. Since its creation in 1967, the Order of Canada has recognized people across all sectors of society who have made extraordinary and sustained contributions to the nation.
Cliff Wallis was given this award for his dedication to advancing nature conservation and restoration in Alberta, as an esteemed biologist and naturalist.
“On behalf of everyone at FSC Canada, I would like to congratulate Cliff on this well-deserved award,” says FSC president, Francois Dufresne. “Cliff’s passionate advocacy for healthy, resilient forests and thriving ecosystems is an inspiration. As chair of our board of directors, Cliff’s deep knowledge, humour and collaborative approach, has helped guide our work and provide strategic direction for the coming years.”
