Program offers employers funding for forestry internships
June 4, 2021 By P&PC Staff
Companies in the forest products sector can access funding to hire interns 30 years old and younger under ECO Canada’s Youth Employed in Natural Resources program.
The funding will cover 80 per cent up to $25,000 towards hiring an intern.
Funding is available for businesses and organizations working in the natural resource sectors to protect the environment, or within a business or organization that works towards positive environmental outcomes.
This includes but is not limited to pulp and paper product manufacturing, forestry and support activities, ecology and management, non-traditional forest-based bioeconomy products manufacturing, and solid wood product manufacturing.
The intern must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have refugee status, and must be unemployed, underemployed, or a student/recent graduate.
The work placement length must be full-time (30-plus hours/week) employment and end around February 28, 2022.
Funding is extremely limited. To apply, click here.
