Now that Weyerhaeuser has permanently closed its OSB mill in Miramichi, the Department of Natural Resources has formally taken over Crown license five. According to a recent report by the Miramichi Leader, Weyerhaeuser held the license for a total of eight years, taking over from Eagle Forest Products in 2000.

The company shut down the facility in January 2007 and announced its permanent closure several weeks ago, on June 6. The Miramichi Leader further confirmed that if efforts to secure a buyer for the mill this summer do not prove fruitful, the facility will be dismantled.
