Kemira president and CEO Jari Rosendal passes away

Kemira’s long-serving president and CEO Jari Rosendal passed away on July 31 after a short illness.

Rosendal was 58 years old and served in Kemira’s top leadership position since 2014. He was a member of the board of directors of Neste Oyj, Finnish Chemical Association and European Chemical Industry Council Cefic. Before joining Kemira he had a long career in the mining industry.

Kemira’s board of directors, management and personnel extended their deepest condolences to Jari’s family.

Rosendal was a leader whose main focus was always the safety and well-being of employees. Under his leadership, Kemira’s profitability improved significantly and the strategic focus shifted toward sustainable profitable growth. Rosendal will be greatly missed by colleagues around the world, says a press statement from the company.

Kemira announced on July 18, 2023 that its board of directors and president and CEO Rosendal had agreed that Rosendal would leave his position in 2024 at the latest and that the board would Board of Directors initiate a search for his successor. CFO Petri Castrén will act as interim president and CEO until someone new starts in his position.
