Valmet honours four industry professionals on International Women’s Day

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Valmet highlighted four women from its North American team. The company shared in a press statement that over the course of its 220 years of industrial history, many women have played key roles in helping it achieve success in process technology, automation and services for pulp mills, tissue, board and paper producers and beyond.

For International Women’s Day, Valmet recognized the following four professionals in North America:

Alexia Bouche, health, safety and environment manager 

As the Canadian health, safety and environment manager for Valmet, Alexia Bouche gets to live her philosophy: prioritizing health and safety is a way of life. Her goal is to provide safe and healthy workplace for everyone, and she hopes that the safety culture she promotes is something that Valmet employees can take home with them.

With Valmet since 2021, Alexia enjoys working for a company that she feels makes a difference in the world. It gives her the feeling that she’s part of something much bigger than herself and it’s a great feeling to come to work every day to help make an impact.

Angie Coenen, production unit leader  

As production unit leader in at the Neenah Service Center in Wisconsin, Angie Coenen ensures that Valmet provides quality products and services to customers while maintaining a safe and fulfilling work environment for her colleagues. Bringing her team together and achieving these goals provides her with personal satisfaction and is one of the many reasons she enjoys coming to work every day.

With Valmet since 2018, Angie enjoys being part of a very large global organization yet working in an intimate team environment daily where each member’s skills and strengths are known and recognized. She takes pride in contributing to the success of the Neenah Service Center, knowing her team is simultaneously contributing to the larger global mission of Valmet.

Donna Rundquist, role area implementation owner 

With Valmet since 1988, Donna Rundquist is the role area implementation owner. As a senior member of the Valmet team, her job is about finding innovative solutions for her customers and the environment.

She feels cared for at Valmet, as the company has provided her many opportunities, including work-life balance, education, travel, personal development, and great benefits. This plus the collaborative company culture, she believes, has led to the longevity of many careers as well as attracted new team members. For Donna, it’s been a great experience working together for the success of Valmet’s clients, the company, and sustainable solutions that impact the world.

Joy Christie, administrative assistant

Joy Christie is an administrative assistant at the Valmet Waukesha Service Center in Wisconsin. For her, working at Valmet has been encouraging – the company is very good at recognizing personal skills and strengths and then supporting their development. For example, when she wanted to expand her skill set learning Spanish to aid ESL workers on the production floor, the company empowered her.

A Valmeteer for almost two years, one of the reasons she chose Valmet is because of the great benefits, but she has stayed for the people, from colleagues to customers to suppliers. She enjoys celebrating wins, big and small, with her team.
