Jan. 23, 2017 – ADI Systems says it has been awarded a contract for a large wastewater treatment project at Lake Utopia Paper located in New Brunswick, adding that once complete, the system will be the largest single ADI-BVF reactor in the world.

Lake Utopia Paper, a J.D. Irving Company, manufactures approximately 185,000 tonnes of finished corrugating medium per year. The mill was an early adopter of anaerobic digestion technology, but an expansion and upgrade of current infrastructure necessitated a new system.

ADI Systems has completed preliminary design engineering services for the 150,000 m3 BVF reactor, and the Irving companies will be doing most of the construction.

ADI said a visit to the Slave Lake Pulp mill in Alberta where Lake Utopia Paper employees “saw firsthand satisfaction with the operating results of the BVF system” led the J.D. Irving Company to choose ADI-BVF technology for its own project.
