Canfor is gearing up to spend $7 million to construct a Vancouver-based distribution centre to cater to its markets in Asia. The Globe and Mail recently reported that the facility will supply lumber from its Canadian mills to builders located in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and China.

The project is reflective of Canfor’s corporate strategy to seek out and service key Asian markets. The centre will be built in Richmond and will span 10-acres along the south arm of the Fraser River. Boasting a capacity to accommodate 20 million board feet of lumber, the facility is expected to help the company in its quest to fill orders from Asia at a faster pace.
