FPInnovations shared in a press statement that it had another great turnout for its Pulp, Paper, and Bioproducts Course which took place this year from October 16 to 20.

Twenty experts gave a total of 31 lectures during the week, covering a wide range of topics including fibre supply, manufacturing processes, energy efficiency, decarbonization, and final products. Attendees took part in laboratory tours and demonstrations and had an exclusive look at new product prototypes being developed by FPInnovations, including biomaterials, packaging, tissue, and cellulosic films.

In addition to meeting numerous experts from FPInnovations, the course attendees also had the opportunity to network with participants from other pulp and paper mills in both Canada and the United States. As in previous years, participants had the option to attend the course onsite or online.

Regardless of which option they chose, all participants left with a good understanding of the entire pulp and paper manufacturing process as well as the products that can be produced: pulp, paper, packaging, tissue, and bioproducts. Certificates were issued to all who successfully completed the course.

“It was a very technical and informative course and I enjoyed it. I also appreciated the opportunity to tour FPInnovations’ world-class R&D labs/pilot facilities and interact with FPInnovations’ experts and other participants,” said Umunna Uworn, engineering manager at Canfor Pulp Northwood mill.
