‘Outnumbered, but it pushes me’: Lindsay Boyce at Millar Western on #TakeYourPlace

Lindsay Boyce, an environmental process specialist, spends her days working at Millar Western’s Whitecourt, Alta. pulp mill’s bioenergy effluent plant, monitoring anaerobic hybrid digesters that convert wastewater organics into energy used to power pulp dryers.
Boyce is also one of the women featured in the Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC)’s #TakeYourPlace campaign, which launched in 2019 to promote opportunities in the forestry sector to women, Indigenous peoples and new Canadians.
#TakeYourPlace is part of FPAC’s overall career recruitment initiative called The Greenest Workforce, which includes a forestry job board, labour market information and a tool to develop career pathways.
In the below #TakeYourPlace campaign video, Boyce reflects on what she says has been a positive experience working in a male-dominated industry. “I’m definitely outnumbered, but it pushes me – it makes me work hard to prove that I can do the job just like any guy can.”
