PATRICK DUFFY, senior vice president and president of Bowater’s coated and specialty papers division is retiring. WILLIAM NORRIS succeeds him in this role.

It will also mark Bowater’s WILLIAM HARVEY’s appointment as acting chief financial officer. A chartered financial analyst, Harvey has served as the company’s vice president and treasurer since 1998.

Weyerhaeuser has named MICHAEL JACKSON senior vice president of Pulp and White Paper. He assumed the role on December 27th, 2004 and replaced MICHAEL ONUSTOCK. Replacing Jackson in his former role as vice president of fine paper, is RICHARD THOMAS. Thomas has nearly 25 years of experience in the paper industry. ANDREA HOWELL has been named manager of Weyerhaeuser’s federal affairs.

As of January 1st, 2005, UPM’s converting division consists of two businesses, labelstock business and specialty coatings business. HEIKKI PIKKARAINEN has been appointed president of the labelstock business and a member of UPM’s executive team. MATII J. LINDAHL is the president of the specialty coatings business.

MARTIN MALONEY has been named executive director of The Print Council, a business development initiative dedicated to promote the greater use of print media.

KEON WILD has been appointed vice president of product safety for Black Clawson.

JACQUES GIASSON, chairman of the board of Tembec has announced his retirement, confirming he will not seek a new term. He has held the position since 1991.

After making a review of its pulp and paper organization, Domtar has made changes to its management committee. STEVEN A. BARKER, currently Senior Vice President, Paper Merchants, becomes Senior Vice President, Pulp and Paper Sales and Marketing.

ROBERT J. BELANGER, currently Vice President, Technology, is promoted to Senior Vice President, Specialty Papers.

JAMES F. LENHOFF, currently Vice President General Manager, Cincinnati Branch, Domtar Distribution Group is promoted to Senior Vice President, Paper Merchants.

HUBERT PELLETIER, currently Vice President, Manufacturing, Premium Printing Papers, is promoted to Senior Vice President, Paper Supply Chain.

PIERRE TRUDEL, currently Vice President, Manufacturing, Printing and Imaging Papers, is promoted to Senior Vice President, Pulp and Paper Technology.

GEORGE KOBRYNSKY, currently Senior Vice President, Pulp and Paper Sales and Marketing, and Roland Gagnon, Senior Vice President, Supply Chain and Information Technology, are leaving Domtar’s Management Committee and will retire from the Company in 2005.
