Fire extinguished at Paper Excellence’s Port Alberni mill

A paper machine caught fire on Jan. 4 at Paper Excellence’s mill in Port Alberni, B.C.

The Alberni Valley News reports that there were no injuries.

The fire started in the No. 4 paper machine’s dry section, general manager Marc Bodin said.

Bodin said the fire will not affect production.

The company recently announced it will begin a $13-million upgrade at the mill later this month.
